The big picture is the toned down 1940s/1980s woman's power-suit silhouette; the details are about the accessories. You may not find the double breasted,button-less suit, but make sure you have a pale beige color with a slim skirt, falling at or below the knee.

Sometimes you see a bag and think "I physically need this bag." The Marc Jacobs Gathered Hobo is one of those bags. This oversized hobo is made of supple calf leather with aged brass MJ snaps and is lined with a fun flower print lining. It has a supportive sling and a dual-purpose strap that can be worn across your body or folded over and snapped on the other side for shoulder carry. The bag sells for $368 and comes in black as well as red shown to the right.

Following in the footsteps of the esteemed Field Bag mentioned in an earlier post, the Schooly Field Bag from Marc by Marc Jacobs adds a touch of grace to the rugged satchel. The bag is covered in soft leather and has fine, denim trim. Featuring a large flap closure with two pockets underneath, the Marc Jacobs Schooly is lined in a nautical-inspired textile print. The endless adjustable shoulder strap can either be worn over the shoulder or across the body. The Schooly Field Bag is $298 at eLuxury.

Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs is an American fashion designer, raised in New York. Following his studies at the Parsons School of Design, he became prominent on the fashion scene when he designed a "grunge" collection for Perry Ellis, leading to his immediate dismissal. Jacobs is currently the artistic director for Louis Vuitton, spearheading such collaborations as Stephen Sprouse's graffiti bags and Takashi Murakami's pastel-colored accessories. His own clothing lines, Marc Jacobs and the less expensive Marc By Marc Jacobs, are also extremely popular.

Marc Jacobs has been known to design under his own free will without following trends. In Spring 2004/2005, when designers were following the 'safari theme', Marc Jacobs made his collection completely lady-like and the catwalk which the models walked on had an archway of 450,000 roses. For his fall collection in 2005, he got some terrible reviews and some fantastic ones. He is set to bring out a watch collection ths year under the name Marc Jacobs. These watches will be classic and timeless features with a slightly vintage feel. His clothes are available in many countries around the world.

Marc Jacobs Grace Handbags

The Marc Jacobs Grace handbags is full of charm with its tanned leather body and brass hardware. The outside of the bag features a pair of push-clasp pouches with logo closure while the inside is full of many other surprises. Lined in suede, the interior has a Viennese-clasped compartment that borders the other two nifty pockets. The handles are made of rolled leather and there's also a removable shoulder strap for a different look. The Grace bag from Marc Jacobs measures an impressive 13.5 x 7.5 x 5 inches and sells for a not-so-impressive $995.
